During his childhood in Dawson, a small town in western Minnesota, he helped his family through a challenging time by taking on a paper route and then on top of his studies, hours of weekly work in a local restaurant.  He also helped care for his younger siblings.  In high school he was determined to shine on many fronts.  Besides academics, he excelled on the basketball, football and golf teams.  Musically, he was a member of the school's band and concert choir.

Married at a relatively early age, Gary was determined to provide solid support for a family that grew to four children.  He won commendations and ever - higher positions with Minnesota based national corporations Green Giant and Pillsbury.  This full-time professional and full-time parent immersed himself in numerous church and community activities.  Simultaneously, he was determined to earn his bachelor's degree in business administration.  He succeeded at that too-attending night school at the University of Minnesota, which required a round-trip drive of about 120 miles for every session.

Family and Golf

Today, when this high-achieving businessman isn't focused on handling important matters for his clients, he enjoys nothing more than spending time with his wife of more than three decades, Joyce, and other family members.   They're especially proud of their grandchildren.  With a home situated directly on one of the Twin Cities finest golf courses, they also share a passion for a game that Gary loves because "it never stops challenging you."  He's determined to lower his USGA handicap to the single-digit range.
